You are not alone

You Are Not Alone. What Comes Next?

You are not alone. This is hard. If you have reached out to me for support or to offer it, I am grateful for the connection and the recognition of each other in what feels like a dark time.

You are not alone.

We need to process the spectrum of feelings in our own ways, and may not even know what we need to take care of ourselves right now.

You are not alone.

I ask myself, What can I do to make a difference right now? Do you ask yourself the same thing? The answer to this question may have become more complex, but it’s something we can work on together.

You are not alone.

If cost is a barrier to getting the support you need (for guidance, an ear, a safe space to vent, etc.), come for a session and pay what you can. I am available on a donation basis until December. See details below.

We are not alone.

Remember people have faced similar periods in history, with uncertainty and feelings of dread and fear. Some stayed silent, turned on their neighbors, became hardened, and gave up. Others spoke up, gave comfort, and, despite their heartbreak, fought for the people, places, and ideals they held dear.

We are not alone.

Think about those who are very young now, or who may come in future generations. How do we want them to remember us?

We are not alone.

Our family is an enormous ecosystem. We are constantly surrounded and provided for by family members who can’t speak up for themselves: animals, plants, land, and water. They can’t vote, lobby, post on social media, or buy a news organization. Like in any family, we have certain responsibilities to one another.

Nature is the foundation of our survival. She is the parent we take for granted when we are babies. She has vital work to do. At times, that work is subtle, the tiny fluffs of pollen gathered on a bee’s legs. At times, that work changes the landscape itself, storms raging fiery, watery, windy. Like babies, we don’t understand what a mother’s job entails. We love it when she cradles us in her fragrant magnolia arms, sings us to sleep with her beach breeze voice, or swaddles us in meadow softness. What a surprise to learn she is not passive, ever-patient, fully stocked.

Nature does not exist to be our balm.

Nature exists in all her radiant power because she is. She is whole and complete. In every glittering, tender, terrifying expression of creation, she is here because she is. As are we. We are not alone, but we are old enough to know better and appreciate what we have been given. We are family. What will we each do next?
