Look at these gorgeous fungi! Finding beautiful (and weird) stuff outside is one of my favorite things. These delightful creatures sprung up in the yard this week. The one that looks like coral (upright coral fungus according to my Seek app) was tucked under a bush. The other (bleeding fairy helmet!) was inside the trunk of a tree that came down long before I lived here.
Over the course of the next week or so, many more delightful creatures with interesting names emerged.
I made myself late meeting Old Man of the Woods, Winter Russula and Blusher, admiring Turkey-Tail (and False Turkey-Tail) and Crowded Parchment. Indigo Milk Cap and Deceiver nestled in the moss. So much beauty pushing up from the dirt, peeking out from rotting leaves, camouflaged on the earth going about her business of fall’s decay.

I love fungi and You!
Likewise!
Mushrooms and fungi are absolutely fascinating, I love them so much! Have you read Entangled Life by Merlin Sheldrake? Here’s a link to a conversation you might enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9L46XBu9iZ8
Hi Melissa,
Looks like my earlier reply got wiped out when we had a small site glitch. Thanks for the link to this talk. Fascinating guy (and family)!
Nature’s works of art can only be imitated , rarely improved upon.
Agreed, Ferne.
