What do muscles have to do with intuition?
You’ve got muscles, right? We all do. Could they use some more strength, tone and definition? Um…probably. Our muscles are there whether we pay attention to them or not. We don’t have to believe in our muscles, they are simply part of us. However, when we start a new workout, spend a day planting in the garden, or do anything physical that we aren’t used to doing, we often become acutely aware of the muscles we haven’t used in a while. It’s not necessarily comfortable at first, but it makes us stronger.
I’ve had some questions about the Refining Your Intuition Class and I think this analogy may be helpful in explaining my approach to intuitive development. You have intuition whether you pay attention to it or not. You were born with it. This class is about helping you work out that sense (your intuitive muscles) in new ways, so that it becomes stronger and more useful in your life. You don’t have to believe in your intuition (although it helps), just come and experience it. Stretch it, exercise it in new ways with the variety of techniques we’ll use over the course of the weekend. There is no pressure to perform. The environment is safe and supportive. This is an introductory course, but since it is a survey and is highly experiential, even if you’ve been using your intuition intentionally for a while, it will still be a good work out!
