Mara's class is for an hour in the afternoon. She will demonstrate shamanic drumming and discuss healing methods. There will be a balance of discussion and meditative work. The word Devi means Goddess, and Devi Days are a space and time to explore and honor the power of the Divine feminine within and around us. They are mini-retreats. Day long spaces of time to treat your body to some yoga, de-stress and connect more deeply to your own goodness. These retreats are for women only. Free Talk at Durham Yoga Company! Shamanic Healing: An Ancient Art in Modern Settings

Combining personal stories from her practice with examples from research, she'll illustrate how techniques which have been used for thousands of years are helping people heal in our world today. As a special guest, one of Mara's clients, a man with a science and public health background who came to her as a last effort to heal chronic pain, will share his experience with shamanic work from the client's perspective.

Evolving Shamanism: The Healing Path

An introduction to shamanic healing practices. This class provides a beginning foundation for those interested in shamanic healing work. We will explore different ways to work with spiritual help to facilitate balance and harmony in ourselves and others. We will work on preparing ourselves to be the conduit for healing, on creating partnerships with helping spirits, on different types and approaches to shamanic healing, and on the ordinary reality ethics and challenges of healing work, among other topics. It is intended for those who are interested in working with others or on themselves. Although we will be working in pairs, this is not the setting to come in search of healing. Our focus will be on preparing to work on behalf of others, our community and the earth. If you are seeking individual healing, or have questions about what the distinction is, please contact me. Good journeying skills are required for this workshop.

Shamanism Presentation at UNC Integrative Medicine Class

Shamanism and Shamanic Healing for Principles/Practices of Alternative/Complementary Medicine at UNC Medical Center I'll be presenting about shamanism with one of my clients who was in administration at UNC. He had excellent results with chronic pain relief after seeing many doctors and practitioners and being told that nothing more could be done.

Inner Divinity: Crafting Your Life with Sacred Intelligence

Your inner divinity is your spiritual identity. By reconnecting with the sacred intelligence that you were born with, you are able to remember what you need to feel whole and healthy. In intuitive and shamanic sessions I found myself giving certain kinds of advice to clients repeatedly, particularly things that were important to creating a strong relationship to their inner divinity. I share that advice in my book and CD. They are intended as a guide to assist you in living authentically, reclaiming your health and balance.
Inner Divinity contains seven sections with practical exercise for using the concepts. Each section covers an area of life where you will benefit by engaging your sacred intelligence: your relationship with yourself, with other people, and with your environment, your intuition, your spiritual support, your health, and your future.
In this workshop we will go into these concepts in depth, including guided exercises on topics such as understanding your energy personality and how you create (and can change) your internal environment, psychic self protection and understanding energetic boundaries, creating sacred space in your environment, connecting with your intuition, creating spiritual community, listening to your body, and methods for manifesting a vision.

Evolving Shamanism: Creation & Transformation

Have you ever wondered how to tap your ability to create more effectively? Wished you could put some power behind your visions of the future? In this gathering we will explore creation and transformation. I use the word "creativity" both in the classic sense of creating with words, color and sound, but especially in creating what you envision for yourself and your life. We'll work with crafting your goals, dreams and visions and ways to bring them into reality.
The "transformation" work focuses on internal and external evolution – change, progress, transmuting what doesn't serve us into something that does. Shamanism is an ancient system that guides us in relating to the world. It has evolved as its practitioners and the world have changed. We can use these traditional methods to help us evolve, transforming who we are as individuals, and how we live in relationship to others. We'll explore how we can work with the process of transformation intentionally to help let go of what isn't working in our lives and to welcome in what we need to thrive.

Spirit teachers and power animals are a wonderful source of wisdom, support and healing and are available to all of us if we make the effort to develop a relationship with them. This class provides a very basic introduction to the technique of shamanic journeying. If you are interested in the Creation & Transformation class or the new drumming circle, this is a good opportunity to get basic journeying skills. More experienced journeyers are welcome to join for a refresher.

Accessing Intuition

Did you ever "know" something that you couldn’t have known rationally? Are you curious about how this gut instinct can help you stay balanced and make good choices? Intuition is an innate sense, a way of knowing that can be developed and strengthened. It can help you in every aspect of your life.
This class will outline how intuition works and show you different techniques to access your own intuition. You'll learn (or refine) some basic meditation skills and take part in experiential exercises to sharpen your perceptions. You’ll get practice in finding things out intuitively about yourself and others while observing intuitive ethics. You'll also learn ways to stay balanced as your intuition develops. There will be plenty of time to ask questions and share experiences.

Shamanic journeying is a way to directly access spiritual assistance. Spirit teachers and power animals are a wonderful source of wisdom, support and healing and are available to all of us if we make the effort to develop a relationship with them. This class provides an opportunity to use this ancient technique to access spiritual realms and connect with spirit teachers.
Evolving Shamanism is a series of classes in shamanism that will be based on core shamanic journeying. This class is a good foundation to proceed to more advanced work. If you are already familiar with core shamanic journeying you are welcome to participate in this class as a refresher or simply to enjoy the time spent journeying with a group.
