I’ve been working with the concept of backyard shamanism in many ways for a long time. Technically, “backyard” isn’t really a necessary qualifier, as all shamanism really does have this local focus, but it emphasizes where our attention is. We are reminded of the need for this paradoxical inward shift to spark outward change over and over. We’ve all heard the expression “Think Globally, Act Locally.” With backyard shamanism we are going hyperlocal! And those of you familiar with isomorphism know that patterns repeat in nature. The issues we wrestle with inside are mirrored in what plays out externally. As within so without, as above so below. This is far from a new concept, but it’s one that while seeming obvious, is so easy to forget in practice. The Backyard Shamanism course was online this spring and I’m currently preparing a new version for launch. If you want to know when that happens, here you go… Notify me about Backyard Shamanism.
Next Tuesday October 13th at 2:00 Eastern I’ll lead a ceremony around this work for the Society for Shamanic Practice. Join Here.
